At Least Four Hurt In Fire At ExxonMobil Refinery In BR
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — At least four people were injured when a fire broke out at the ExxonMobil refinery in Baton Rouge.
The company confirms its responders extinguished a blaze at the facility at about 4 p.m. Tuesday. Spokesman Todd Spitler says the fire was contained to the area where it occurred.
Spitler says an investigation will be conducted to determine what caused the fire. He says all personnel have been accounted for and the four injured workers are being treated.
Brad Harris, a spokesman with East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services, confirms they transported four people to a local burn unit. Each was in serious condition.
Louisiana State Police Lt. Bryan Lee says they've sent hazardous materials personnel to the scene and Spitler said air monitoring is being conducted.
