The gay marriage debate has resurfaced in Arkansas after a state economic official says he supports same-sex marriage.

Arkansas Economic Development Commission Executive Director Grant Tennille joined same-sex marriage supporters to call for the state to support the movement.

Tennille says he thinks Arkansas could be a leader on the issue in the South by attracting same-sex couples as well as high-skilled jobs.

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe, a Democrat, says he still opposes legalizing same-sex marriage.

Arkansas is one of 37 states in the nation that bans same-sex marriage.
