This is another American Red Cross volunteer traning day! From 9 to 1 today, at Red Cross chapters all across the state, volunteers will get specialized training for the 2012 hurricane season. This prepares folks, including health professionals, to serve in shelters. The local training is being held at the office on Brook Hollow Drive in Shreveport, next to Country Tavern.

Red Cross volunteers are always ready to help, but more are needed to provide care to those in crisis. And they don't ALWAYS serve here in Louisiana...local volunteers have been called on to assist in disasters in other states, as well.

There's another session coming up July 14th, and it's FREE! You can get registered by calling 865-9545 -- or visit the statewide webpage.
