Actor George Segal Has Died
LOS ANGELES (AP) - He started his entertainment career as a banjo player. But before it ended, George Segal became a well-respected actor who was nominated for an Oscar and is remembered by generations of movie and TV fans. Segal died yesterday in California at age 87. His wife says he succumbed to complications from bypass surgery. Segal was up for an Oscar for the 1966 movie, “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” He stayed active in Hollywood for decades, working into his 80s on the ABC sitcom as the grandad in “The Goldbergs.”
