50 Cent Has Had a Wild 48 Hours in the News
Unless you've been living underneath a rock for the last few months, you've probably noticed that 50 Cent has been making international news - with most of it based in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He's announced his G-Unit Films masterplan (we'll get into that here in a minute), he's been buying up/leasing property all over Shreveport...he's been a busy man that's making some big money moves.
However, over the past 48 hours or so, 50's name has been in the news for a lot of different things - some good, some bad, some wild. If you Google his name and click on the news tab - you see some wide ranging stories to put it mildly. Below are some of the highlights
50 Cent Announces Details for His Comedy Festival in Shreveport
If you follow 50 Cent on social media, he's been teasing a massive comedy festival in conjunction with the grand opening of his G-Unit Films facility. He went as far as to call the Humor & Harmony Festival the 'Super Bowl of Comedy'. At first, many people kinda laughed him off.
But, 50 Cent went ALL OUT on this. So far, 50 Cent has announced some of the biggest comedians in the world for this thing. From Andrew Schulz (who gained popularity on social media and REALLY got noticed at the Tom Brady Roast) to world famous comedian Katt Williams. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. You can see the full lineup and get more details here.
50 Cent Reveals 3 Phase Masterplan for Shreveport, Buys More Land
As mentioned above, 50 Cent is setting up shop in Shreveport in a big way with his G-Unit Films studio. But, what initially started as just a film studio, has evolved into something much bigger.
According to his G-Unit team (via KTAL), 50 has expanded his vision into a three-phase plan to invest in Shreveport and it's community. According to the story, Phase 1 is buying and revitalizing property all over Shreveport. According to his team, 50 has already purchased a couple properties and more on the way. Phase 1 will be about various entertainment ventures including a jump park and needed facilities like a grocery store downtown. Phase II will be about building housing for moderate income families. Phase III will be for Shreveport youth - media programs at schools, mentor programs, etc..
50 Cent has some big ideas and it doesn't seem like he's approaching the matter half-heartedly - he's going ALL IN.
50 Cent Gets Threatened By Former Drug Kingpin/Announces New TV Show Phase
I combine these two stories because they're kind of interconnected.
Let's start with the more eye popping story: 50 Cent gets his life threatened by former Drug Kingpin. According to VIBE, Cory "Ghost" Holland is suing 50 Cent and Lionsgate for allegedly stealing his life story for the hit TV show 'Power' without permission. He's suing the group for $1 billion. Which is pretty wild in its own right. He also claims that 50 Cent sent 'goons' to threaten him and his family.
Things go from pretty wild to absolutely crazy according to AllHipHop - a rap news site. According to them, they obtained a threat sent to 50's legal representation. You can read the full statement below:
If a m########### gets killed because your m############ client threaten me and my family, file a m############ motion for that. I ain’t playing with your m########### client no more, next time he or anyone he sends pull up, f### the litigation.
Pretty wild stuff. That news, however, overshadowed other Power news - as 50 Cent is teasing that universe will expand. You can get the full story on that here on Uproxx.
