Probably going back to just after brothers Orville and Wilber Wright very first took flight in 1903, man has looked for new and better ways to master the air.  Most of us were envious of the Jetsons' ability to just hop in their flying car with no visible means of propulsion.... and a really cool "motor sound."

But it's been over 120 years since the Wright brothers made history on that historic day in December, and we still are tethered to the ground tied up in traffic jams and taking 3 hours to get from here to Dallas.  We're well into the 21 century!  Where are our flying cars?

Well, they may not be as far away as you might have thought. But, at $150,000 to more than $500,000, they are still well out of the price range of the average American household.  But if you have the cash, there are flying "cars" available today.

But honestly, most of the flying cars available today are not much more than large drones, or mini-helicopters. Most have several propellors that are used for lift and flight.  I'm still looking for something like the "Spinner" that they had in Blade Runner 2049.  Don't know how it actually flew, but there are no propellers or foldable wings.

There is a new version that has just been introduced that you can get for a mere $300,000 from Alef Aeronautics.  With a range of 200 miles on the road, and 110 miles of flight time, it is designed more as a commuter vehicle.  This model is all-electric, but the company's website says a hydrogen option may be available that will offer longer travel ranges.
