West Nile Case Confirmed in Caddo

flickr photo

The West Nile Virus continues to spread.  The state Department of Health and Hospitals reports 19 new confirmed cases.  Thirteen of those are the potentially deadly neuroinvasive disease — and one of those is right here in Caddo Parish.  In all, 33 cases of West Nile Virus — in one of its three forms — have been confirmed this year in Louisiana.  West Nile is spread by mosquitoes.  Anyone is at risk for infection but those 65 and older are at a higher risk for complications.
