Government and business leaders from both sides of the river have gathered to officially welcome Vision Airlines to Shreveport Regional Airport. Interim Airports Director Bill Cooksey says this is the type of service people in this area have been wanting for a long time. Vision will begin twice-weekly, non-stop 737 jet service between Shreveport Regional and Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Florida, on April second. Vision's Marketing Director, Clay Meek, says about two-thousand tickets have already been purchased. He says figures from 2009 show that, in this area alone, more than thirty-thousand people drove from here to Destin/Fort Walton Beach -- a drive that takes ten or eleven hours. Now he says they'll be able to fly there in less than one hour.
