US News & World Report has released its 2013 national list of the best high schools across the country, and Shreveport's Caddo Parish Magnet High School was named one of the top-ranked high schools in Louisiana. The local high school earned the #7 spot in the state.

The #1 spot on the national list went to Dallas, Texas' School for the Talented and Gifted. The school received a gold medal. Benjamin Franklin High School in New Orleans ranked #1 in Louisiana and #55 in the overall list.

The full list of Louisiana high schools on the list can be viewed on the US News website.

US News also revealed that Louisiana high schools received 72 bronze medals and that some of the state's top-ranked schools are within the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board School District and the Orleans Parish School Board School District in New Orleans.

According to the outlet, a school must be awarded a national gold or silver medal to be eligible for a state ranking. US News has made the methodology for picking the best high schools available to the public.
