The jobs numbers are in and Louisiana's unemployment rate is up.  Up to 6.2% in March from the 6% in February.

The Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics says the number of people in the labor force fell, which would lower the unemployment rate, but there was a bigger decrease in the number of people who reported having jobs.

In Louisiana, there were 3,000 more jobless residents in March than in February, bringing the current total to about 129,000 unemployed.

This contrasts with another survey that showed Louisiana's employer payrolls rose.

Unemployment in neighboring Arkansas remained the same in March at 7.2%.
