The United Daughters of the Confederacy lose the latest legal fight against Caddo Parish.

The UDC is suing in an attempt to stop the removal of the Confederate Monument in downtown Shreveport. As part of that suit, the UDC wanted depositions from 4 of the 7 Caddo Parish Commissioners who voted to remove the statue from in front of the courthouse. The Commission voted 7-5 to remove the statue. The UDC filed suit shortly after that vote and the legal fight has been raging since then.

The UDC wanted their attorneys to depose Steven Jackson, Stormy Gage Watts, Matthew Linn and Lyndon Johnson in an effort to question them about the vote they cast to pull the monument down. However, a US judge shoots down that request, saying that depositions wouldn't help their case and that the reasons why the commissioners voted for removal are irrelevant. The legal fight over monument is headed for trial on June 25th.
