A 7-year-old girl is clinging to life after being hit by a car while she was sitting on her bike waiting to cross the street at Youree and Herndon.

Just after 2:00 p.m. on January 31, 2015, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a major crash at the intersection of Youree Drive and East Herndon Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a red Dodge Avenger operated by 46 year old Randy Presentine, had left the roadway hitting a light pole causing the his vehicle to roll over and hit a 7 year old female that was sitting on her bicycle waiting to cross Youree Drive. The Shreveport Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported the juvenile to University Hospital in the 1500 block of Kings Highway with life-threatening injuries.

Shreveport Police Crash investigators immediately responded to the scene and began recovering evidence, taking measurements, and interviewing potential witnesses. Based on preliminary information gathered, Presentine was taken into custody and transported to the Shreveport Police Headquarters where he was interviewed by detectives. After subsequent interviews, Presentine of the 2600 block of Meadow Avenue in Shreveport, was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of First Degree Vehicular Negligent Injury, one count of driving while intoxicated, one count of driving under suspension, and one count of no insurance. Investigators are working at this hour to determine the cause of this crash. The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending appropriate notifications

An eyewitness tells us she doesn't see how the child survived. Another witness was seen crying as she walked back to her car from the scene of the crash. She said "oh my God it's a child."
