Synthetic Drug Laws Getting Tighter

It's often sold as Incense or potpourri, but now regulations are on the way to try to control what many people buy as synthetic marijuana.

The Caddo Parish Commission is looking at a measure to control the sale of these items. It is already illegal in the state, but Commissioners don't think the state law goes far enough. Manufacturers get around the law by changing just one ingredient and it's legal again. Commissioners will be debating the changes in the next couple of weeks. The local ordinance would outlaw any and all synthetic drugs. Violators could face a fine of up to a $500 and six months in jail.
