Texas Senator Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) is holding a filibuster today in protest of Senate Bill 5 (or SB5), which made it through the Texas House this week. If passed, the bill would prevent pregnant women from receiving an abortion after 20 weeks.

spoke up on her Twitter page Monday to announce her intention to filibuster SB5, saying, "the leadership may not want to listen to Texas women, but they will have to listen to me."

As part of the filibuster, Sen. Davis must speak until midnight and cannot take any bathroom or food breaks.

Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, has said that SB5's passage would effectively ban abortion in Texas and force women to "resort to dangerous and unsafe measures" if they needed the procedure.
