A man wanted for a Longview, Texas, murder has been arrested in Bossier City.

Bossier City Police were notified by police in Longview that 27-year-old Paul Mengel might be at a home in Bossier.  They teamed up with Shreveport Police and the U.S. Marshal's Violent Offender Task Force and converged on a house in the 1400 block of Gibson Street.  At one point, Mengel came outside and was ordered to surrender but he ran back in and continued to refuse the officers' orders to give up.

Eventually, three women left the house and a Bossier City Police K-9 was sent in.  After being bitten on the buttocks, Mengel surrendered.  He was treated at LSU Health and then booked into the Bossier City Jail as a fugitive.  He's wanted in Longview for the July 7th shooting death of a man there.
