It hasn’t been a great week for Johnny Depp. By now you’ve probably heard about his Trump assassination joke that’s garnered mounds of controversy. And while that story, and the actor’s apology, have gotten the most attention in the media, that’s not the only development in Depp news.
It's been three years since ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ was unleashed upon an unsuspecting populace, convincing even the most die hard fans of Disney's lucrative franchise that Captain Jack Sparrow needed to take a break. Maybe forever. And yet, these past years have been filled with rumors and casting and almost-casting for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.’ Like it or not, this film is coming and now it has the young up-and-comer Brenton Thwaites in its drunken, slurred, overlong clutches.
The big budget update of ‘The Lone Ranger’ won’t hit theaters until the summer of 2013. But the first official images of the film were just released on producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s Twitter account, offering a peek at Johnny Depp as one of the most iconic sidekicks in pop culture history.
