Lemonade stands are usually symbolic of the carefree nature of youth. Six-year old Drew Cox, however, has had to grow up fast. That’s because his dad, Randy, was recently diagnosed with seminoma, a rare form of cancer.

So when Drew put a lemonade stand out in front of his Gladewater, TX, home on Saturday, he did so to raise money for his father’s treatment. Word about Drew’s efforts quickly spread throughout the East Texas community, and soon the line for his lemonade stretched down the street.

Drew netted over $10,000 for his day’s work.

“He is so important to me. We like to play with each other,” Drew said of his dad in an interview with KLTV. “Lots of times we like to play games.”

Seminoma is generally pretty treatable, and Randy’s prognosis is good. So hopefully the next time Drew sets up his lemonade stand he can use the proceeds for more age-appropriate stuff like candy and baseball cards. Learn more about this inspirational story below.
