SHREVEPORT, LA-   The Caddo Parish Coroner's office has released the names of three women killed in separate incidents during the first two weeks of 2024.

Three women mortally wounded in shootings in Shreveport early Sunday, January 14, 2024, including a mother and daughter, have been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office. 

 The first shooting, just before 1:37 a.m. in the 2700 block of Willis Street in the Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood, claimed the lives of Joan Johnson, 70, and Jasmine Johnson, 29. Both women were shot numerous times after a domestic altercation in their residence. Joan Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene at 1:48 a.m. Jasmine Johnson was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 2:10 a.m.   

 Both women were positively identified through fingerprint comparison. 

 The second shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. in the 2100 block of Marshall Street, at a nightclub west of Greenwood Cemetery and north of Stoner Avenue. Hortencia L. Demming, 26, of Shreveport, was shot in the parking lot there following an altercation. She was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where she later died from her wounds at 2:40 a.m. 

 Ms. Demming also was positively identified through fingerprint comparison. 

 Autopsies were ordered for all the victims. These are the first homicides for Shreveport and Caddo Parish of 2024.
