Shreveport Firefighters Battle Vacant House Fire

Shreveport Fire Department fire crews were dispatched at 1:41AM this morning to the 1900 block of Alston Street to a report of a single-story wood framed residence on fire. The first arriving SFD fire unit on scene reported the structure to have heavy smoke coming from the rear of the residence.

Firefighters were able to enter the front door of the residence, where they located and extinguished the fire. It took the efforts of 15 firefighters—5 fire units, only minutes to bring this blaze under control.

This structure was vacant. This fire cause is still under investigation. If you or someone you know needs a free smoke detector, please contact the Shreveport Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau at 318-673-6740. There were no injuries reported to firefighters.
