Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux told KEEL News on Tuesday morning that because of continued icy road conditions, the city is not going to run garbage collection routes for Tuesday, January 16th.

Arceneaux said with temperatures reaching above freezing Wednesday, they might try to run trucks for a partial day, but probably won't be able to reschedule Monday or Tuesdays pickups.

When we get weather like this, ordinarily, it's a couple of days.  And, as a result of that, the best thing for us to do is kinda stay in place, and kind of have a little bit of patience, and we can all catch up when the weather clears.  Mayor Arceneaux

When asked when garbage collection would resume, Mayor Arceneaux told KEEL News:

I think what is likely to happen is that we... because the weather will give us a break tomorrow, (Wednesday, January 17th), we will pick up Thursday and Friday under the normal schedule, and we'll simply miss Monday and Tuesday this week. We can't get Monday and Tuesday all on one day, and we don't think we are going to have a complete day on Wednesday to even attempt to do that.
