The Shreveport Police Department will be holding a safety/sobriety checkpoint this Friday, December 20th at an undisclosed location in North Shreveport. They will begin at 10pm and continue until 4am. Here's what Shreveport Police Public Information Officer Cpl. Marcus Hines says about the event:

Shreveport Police will hold a safety checkpoint this Friday night in northern Shreveport.

The checkpoint, which will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 and run until 4:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013, is part of a collaborative effort between multiple agencies to emphasize our commitment to make the streets of our city safe for everyone. Officers will be checking for impaired drivers along with any other violations that could potentially compromise the safety of those persons taking to the roadways.

The Louisiana Highway Commission will be utilizing its' “BAT Mobile” as part of the continuing effort to curb the number of those impaired drivers who take to the streets each year in our area, recklessly risking the lives of many.
