SHREVEPORT, LA-   Shreveport Police search for suspect in weekend homicide

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Investigators have obtained a warrant charging a man in connection with the murder of a woman in east Shreveport early Sunday morning.

On January 14, 2024, at 2:00 a.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting on a vacant lot in the 800 block of Wall Street. Arriving officers located 26-year-old Hortencia Demming suffering from at least one gunshot wound to her upper torso. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Violent Crimes investigators worked through the night and following day combing through evidence and interviewing witnesses and were able to develop Rictaveon Perry (3-11-2004) as the suspected shooter. Perry frequents the Cherokee Park Neighborhood, MLK neighborhood, and the Hollywood neighborhood. His current address is on 2nd Street.

Perry was last seen in an older white 4-door car, possibly a Grand Marquis or Caprice. Detectives believe that Demming and Perry were involved in an ongoing dispute that led to this violent act. No other information is available for release at this time.

A warrant was procured charging Perry with one count of Second-Degree Murder. No bond was set.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on Perry’s whereabouts to contact them at 318-673-7300 #3. Perry is considered armed and dangerous, and police are asking that people not approach him.
