A Shreveport Police officer was arrested Thursday afternoon for driving while intoxicated, though he wasn't actually caught driving while intoxicated.

At approximately 2:52 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Shreveport police patrol officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Foster Street relative to a call from a concerned citizen regarding a marked Shreveport Police unit parked in the middle of the street there.

The caller reported the driver appeared to be disoriented.  Upon arrival, responding officers discovered that Officer Pat Hensley, who was off-duty, had apparently been operating his assigned unit while impaired. Hensley was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Shreveport City Jail where he was booked in on one count of first offense driving while intoxicated.

Hensley, who was hired by the department in July of 2006, has been taken off the streets and placed on paid administrative leave by Chief Willie Shaw pending an administrative investigation, acording to spokesman Bill Goodin.
