Life in prison at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. That's the sentence handed to 25-year-old Samuel Lee Jordan by Caddo District Judge Mike Pitman. Jordan was convicted last month of first-degree murder for the death of eight-week-old Lyrica Kennedy.

In the meantime, the man accused of killing Shreveport Police Sergeant Tim Prunty and firing into the guard shack at Southern Trace is due back in court next week. 25-year-old Christopher Cope is scheduled to stand trial October 8th on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder but his attorney is trying to get that date continued. Judge Pitman is expected to rule on that motion next Wednesday.
