Shreveport Man Draws Lengthy Prison Sentence
Unless he lives to be older than 118, a Shreveport man will spend the rest of his life behind bars. Caddo District Court Judge Craig Marcotte has ruled that 38-year-old Demond Carey is a multiple offender and sentenced him to 80 years in prison at hard labor without benefit of probation or suspension of sentence. A Caddo Parish jury, back in October, found Carey guilty of manslaughter for the July, 2008, shooting death of Lonzell Armstrong. Armstrong was shot several times while sitting in his pickup truck at a business in the 1900 block of David Raines Road.
