One Shreveport man is dead and another faces charges after an armed robbery and vehicle pursuit overnight.

Just after 11:15 last night, patrol officers were called to a home in the 400 block of Seneca Trail to reports of an armed robbery. The victims were allegedly in the front yard of the home, when they were accosted by a man armed with a gun. The suspect reportedly took items from the victims and left the scene in what was described as a small white vehicle.

The victim somehow managed to locate the car moments later and called authorities, who spotted the car traveling near Airline Drive in Bossier City. As Bossier officers attempted to pull the car over, the driver took off, leading police on a chase that ended with the suspect crashing the car into a concrete barrier along a section of I-49 south near the Hollywood Avenue off-ramp.

The car burst into flames and the driver and passenger had to be pulled from the wreckage. The driver, identified as 41-year-old Darien Pouncy of Shreveport, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His sole passenger, 39-year-old Tyrell Odell, was pronounced dead at University Health.

Pouncy has been charged with armed robbery, and will likely face additional charges associated with the crash that claimed Odell's life. The investigation continues.
