Investigators say 34-year-old Nathaniel Allen Mingo is charged with 2nd degree murder for the death of 33-year-old Amanda Collins of Elm Grove, an acquaintance of his. Mingo was taken into custody following a brief struggle at around noon Monday in west Shreveport.

Patrol deputies were contacted at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday after a landowner reported an unknown truck in a pasture some 300 yards off of the roadway in the 4500 block of Highway 157. Deputies found a maroon 2014 Ford F-250 4-door truck with Collins dead inside. The truck was reported stolen out of Mississippi.

Collins had suffered from a single gunshot wound. Investigators collected evidence and obtained search warrants. The Coroner's Office is trying to determine the exact cause of death.

Mingo is said to have an extensive criminal history, including charges for drug possession, resisting an officer and aggravated escape. He's being held at the Bossier Maximum Security Facility on $2,000,000 bond.
