On October 12, 2023, at 1:53 a.m., the Shreveport Fire Department responded to the report of a house on fire in the 10000 block of Thornwood Dr. The first unit arrived on the scene within seven minutes of the dispatch and found a two-story structure with heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear corner of the house.

Upon gaining access into the residence, firefighters were faced with heavy flames in the attic that were spreading quickly through the second story of the house. Firefighters transitioned to an exterior fire attack method.

The home was occupied, the residents were alerted by smoke alarms and were able to evacuate the structure without problem. Approximately thirty five fire personnel from both Shreveport Fire Department and Caddo Fire District #5, operating thirteen units worked together to bring the fire under control around 2:47 a.m. on 10/12/2023. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time, and a full assessment of the damage is not available.
