Shreveport's little free libraries will stay open.

Shreveport Council Chairman Jeff Everson presented a resolution to keep Little Free Libraries until the Metropolitan Planning Commission can re-write the zoning ordinances for the free book swap program.

MPC Chairwoman Lea Desmarteau took a little heat during the meeting, but she told the council the MPC has always been in support of the Little Free Libraries.

Councilman James Flurry says "dealing with the MPC is like dealing with the IRS".

The council unanimously voted to pass the moratorium to protect Little Free Libraries in Shreveport.

The little library in the 500 block of Wilkinson Street was recently cited for a zoning violation after one person's complaint that it was causing a too much commotion in the neighborhood.
