The Louisiana chapter of the American Planning Association is giving its 2013 Excellence Award to "Great Expectations: the Shreveport-Caddo 2030 Master Plan."  According to the Mayor's Office, the award recognizes the excellence of the local master plan based on: originality and innovation, transferability, quality, comprehensiveness, public participation, the role of planners, implementation strategy and funding, and effectiveness, results, and sustained improvement.  The master plan is the first comprehensive plan for Shreveport and Caddo Parish since 1957.  It was developed by Boston-based Goody Clancy with input from thousands of area residents and a citizens' advisory committee.
