According to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, the Shreveport Region is among the highest in state for new cases of HIV. The region - which includes Caddo, Bossier and surrounding areas - had 138 new HIV cases in 2015. That puts the area third behind only New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Caddo Parish led the region in new cases with 83.

Health officials say the best way to prevent the spread of the virus is to educate your self, use protection and to get regular HIV testing if you are sexually active.
