Shreve Island Elementary Achieves Lighthouse School Status

A nice honor for a local school. In a news release, Instructional Coordinator Kristin Davis says Shreve Island Elementary School has achieved Lighthouse School status from FranklinCovey Education for the outstanding quality of its leadership program.

For the past three years, students and staff have participated in "The Leader in Me" program, which embeds leadership skills through all areas of the curriculum. Shreve Island was selected as one of 60 schools throughout the world, and now serves as a model for other schools.

Davis says Shreve Island celebrates Friday, January 24th, with a community Leadership Day. The official Lighthouse School banner will be awarded by Sean Covey, son of Stephen Covey, author of "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" and founder of FranklinCovey Education. Visitors are welcome to join in this celebration. The presentation runs from 8:30-9:00 a.m., and classroom tours are available from 9:10-10:10.
