Are pot laws in Louisiana on the cusp of changing? Apparently not anytime soon.

The Louisiana Senate Committee has squashed the latest attempt to reduce the penalties associated with marijuana possession.

The State of Louisiana is standing firm on the issue in an era when medical marijuana and even legalized marijuana is slowly becoming more acceptable. Current Louisiana laws make it possible to be sentenced from five to 10 years for marijuana possession.

Critics of anti-pot legalization often note that sometimes, violent criminals receive lesser sentences for crimes such as aggravated assault, rape and robbery.

What do you think? Should Louisiana change their marijuana laws?
