Local police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting earlier this week in north Shreveport.

On December 27th, Shreveport officers responded to the 1600 block of David Raines Road on a shooting call. Officers found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound to his lower extremities. The victim was transported to University Health by the Shreveport Fire Department with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

After questioning witnesses, police began searching for 24 year old David McKinney. The victim was trying to break up a fight between McKinney and another man when McKinney allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him. McKinney then fled the scene of the crime.

McKinney surrendered to police detectives and was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of aggravated second degree battery and one count of convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
