Sandbags Being Handed Out In Bossier Parish Because of Expected Rain

Evidently we’re going to get more rain than we originally thought. Because of that, the Bossier Parish Highway Department will be offering sandbags to the public from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. today through Thursday.
Those are free and can be picked up at the highway department facilities at 410 Mayfield Street in Benton. Forecasters are predicting between 3 and 5 inches of rain in the next 24 hours.
Bossier Parish Director of Public Safety Sammy Halphen says the sandbag handouts are being done as a precautionary measure to help those who feel that a significant rain would cause their residence or business to flood.
Call the highway department for additional information: (318) 965-3752.
