Five weeks into the NFL season, we are starting to see the trends we may expect to see all season.  The Saints are off to a hot start, the Cowboys are the cream of the lowly NFC East crop.

The Saints are off to a 5-0 start behind the arm of Drew Brees and headset of Shawn Payton, showing how important Payton is to the Saints after they went 7-9 last year.  They've played pretty good teams in Arizona (31-7), Miami (38-17), and Chicago (26-18), who are all 3-2.  Opponents combined record: 10-14.

The Cowboys are 2-3 after five games losing two close games to undefeated Kansas City (17-16) and Denver (51-48), giving away a game to San Diego, and beating St. Louis and surprise basement dweller New York Giants.  Their opponents combined record so far is 14-11.

Both teams still have plenty of time left in the season for things to take a turn one way or another, as the Saints battle the Patriots this week before their bye week and the Cowboys take on division rivals in Washington.

The Saints have shown their strength in the passing game and Drew Brees piling on the yards.  The Cowboys have also showed strength in the passing game, but have seen mild success on the ground and struggling a little on defense.

Despite the differences in their records, all three of the Cowboys losses had Dallas close to winning, or blowing a lead.  Both of their losses to undefeated Kansas City and Denver were close contests, while they blew their lead to their other loss to San Diego.

So who are you rooting for this football season?  And how do you think the Cowboys and Saints will finish the year?
