[UPDATE] Rick Seaton Wants Rape Conviction Overturned
[UPDATE April 10, 2013] The Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal in Shreveport has upheld Rick Seaton's rape conviction.
Convicted rapist Rick Seaton wants his conviction thrown out. The former assistant to the mayor of Shreveport is asking the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals to void his rape conviction.
Seaton claims the sex he had with an 18-year-old woman after the 2010 Independence Bowl was consensual. His lawyer says prosecutors even offered to drop the rape charge against him if he would plead guilty to abuse of office, which Seaton would not do.
Seaton's attorney will present his case today to an appeals court panel.
Seaton is currently serving an 18-year prison sentence.
