Purse Snatcher Caught

A purse-snatching suspect is now behind bars. The incident happened just before 4 yesterday afternoon in the parking lot of Superior Steakhouse in the 6100 block of Line Avenue. An employee of the business has told police she parked her vehicle and was walking towards the restaurant when she noticed a man -- later identified as 19-year-old Pereto Jefferson -- approaching from the west. He said, "Hi," grabbed the purse off her shoulder and ran through the parking lot, followed by a witness. That witness told police that Jefferson was standing in the back yard of a residence in the 6100 block of Fairfield -- and that's where they took him into custody. They were unable to locate the woman's purse.
