Police Work Two Shootings 5 Minutes Apart
Detectives are currently working two unrelated shootings that were reported within five minutes of each other Sunday.
At 2:16 p.m., police were called to the scene of a shooting in the 5200 block of Monkhouse Drive at a local motel. Upon arrival, officers found a victim suffering from a non-life threatening bullet wound to the leg. According to detectives, the room was being rented by the female suspect. She and two male accomplices conspired to set up a robbery at the motel. She called the victim and told him she needed some money to pay her tab. When the victim arrived, she let him in the room. The two males came into the room behind him and one of them fired several shots at him. The victim was hit once in the leg and one of the suspects fled the scene. The two suspects at the room at first denied any knowledge of why the victim was shot, but detectives learned it was a planned robbery attempt. Arnonicka J. Washington, 19 years of age, and Darell L. Bell, 17 years of age were charged by detectives with one count of Attempted First Degree Murder. Both suspects are from Shreveport. The third suspect is still being sought by detectives.
