Shreveport police detectives need your help in solving a murder case that happened more than 20 years ago. Early in the morning on August 26th, 1990, patrol officers were called to a reported shooting in the 400 block of North Holtzman. There, they found a Yellow Checker Cab on the property of Ingersoll Elementary School, where it had struck a tree. Officers found 54-year-old Victor Shields inside suffering from two gunshot wounds. He was taken to Willis-Knighton, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives think Shields picked up a fare in Bossier City earlier that morning and drove him into Shreveport. That person was described as a black male in his thirties, dark-complexioned and heavy-set. Investigators have followed up on numerous leads over the years, but have come up empty-handed. If you can help find whoever killed Shields, and bring his family closure, contact Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers.
