Authorities have identified a suspect they believe shot a man earlier this month in Shreveport’s Allendale neighborhood. At approximately 2:19 a.m. on January 1, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to LSUHSC in the 1500 block of Kings Highway relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, patrolmen found 22 year old Sam Anderson there suffering from several non-life- gunshot wounds to his extremities. Anderson reported to officers that he had been shot by a known suspect during some type of dispute in the 1600 block of Milam Street and was subsequently transported to the hospital in a private automobile.

Detectives were notified and, after conducting an in-depth inquiry, were able to positively identify 22 year old Demetrius Stewart as the man who fired shots at Anderson. Based on information gathered during the course of their investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant yesterday afternoon charging Stewart, of the 100 block of Hamilton Street in Shreveport, with one count of aggravated second degree battery.

His bond has been set at $100,000.

Anyone with any information concerning Demetrius Stewart or his whereabouts is urged to call Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
