With flags citywide flying at half staff in honor of former Shreveport Fire Chief Dallas Greene, it was announced earlier today that a section of Kings Highway will be closed Friday for the late Chief's funeral procession.

Here's the official statement from City Hall and the Shreveport Police Department:

"Fire Chief Dallas W. Greene Jr.’s funeral on Friday has prompted Shreveport Police Department to close a portion of Kings Highway for four hours.

Kings Highway will be closed from noon to 4 p.m. between Fairfield Avenue and Line Avenue. The detour will be from Fairfield Avenue to Stephenson Street and back to Line Avenue. Additionally, Thornhill Avenue will be closed at Kings Highway, with local traffic only on Thornhill Avenue from Rutherford to Jefferson streets.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Kings Highway Christian Church, 806 Kings Highway.

Shreveport Fire Department and fire departments from around the state will stage trucks near the church in honor of the life and legacy of Chief Greene.

The funeral procession, following the service, will have rolling street closures from Kings Highway Christian Church to Centuries Memorial Cemetery on Mansfield Road."
