An officer involved shooting has rocked West Shreveport this afternoon.

Authorities say that a homicide suspect was tracked from Texas into the Shreveport area. At that point, the suspect reportedly started firing at officers. The officers returned fire on the suspect.

A Caddo Parish Deputy was struck by gunfire in the upper body during the exchange, that Deputy is currently hospitalized. We've been told the Deputy is not in critical condition and is expected to recover.

The suspect was shot and killed on the scene.

According to Caddo Parish records, over a dozen units have been dispatched to the area near Quail Ridge Drive and Grantham Street at Pines Road. That's where the apartment complex the shooting reportedly occurred at is located.

Records indicate that the exchange of gunfire took place just before 2pm Tuesday afternoon. With the first call for units due to the shooting coming in at 1:50pm, then a second call at 1:59pm. Followed by a call for Shreveport Fire at 2:05pm.

As expected with an officer involved shooting, the Louisiana State Police are going to step in to take over the investigation.

The suspect was being tracked from Texas by the US Marshalls service, and was wanted on charges related to a homicide.
