BATON ROUGE - Commissioner Nick Gautreaux of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety - Office of Motor Vehicles advised today that OMV Headquarters and all statewide field offices will be closed for the upcoming legal state holidays.

Those dates are as follows:

•    Declared legal holiday - Friday, December 23, 2011

•    Designated legal holiday - Monday, December 26, 2011

•    Declared legal holiday - Friday, December 30, 2011

•    Designated legal holiday - Monday, January 2, 2012

Gautreaux said, "I urge anyone who needs to transact motor vehicle business to visit their nearest office as soon as possible to avoid the 'refund rush' we get during tax season." Gautreaux noted that the public can also call 225-925-6146 if they need information about their individual record or vehicle and that virtually all of OMV’s general information is available on the department’s Website at www.expresslane.org. "On the web you can avoid the rush and the crowd," Gautreaux continued, "since customers can also perform a number of vehicle and license activities through the Website."
