Hours after Shreveport's latest homicide, police had made an arrest.  Just before one o'clock this afternoon, 30-year-old Damian Pipkins surrendered to detectives at the Shreveport police complex. He did so after learning that police had been searching for him in connection with the early morning shooting death of 35-year-old McDaniel Smith. He was found fatally shot in the 200 block of Webster Street in Allendale. Police think that Smith had been involved in some type of altercation with a woman and Pipkins got involved in the dispute. They say that at some point he pulled a handgun and shot Smith. Pipkins was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of second-degree murder.
