LSU-S To Hand Out Distinguished Alumni Award

The LSU Shreveport Spring Commencement ceremony will be held Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City, La.  The featured speaker will be Marcia Calhoun BGS ’00, who will be honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award of 2012. 

Calhoun is the co-owner of Calhoun Builders, Inc., with her husband, Riemer. She served on the LSUS Alumni Board from 2001-2007 and was co-chair of the Commencement Committee for four years.  She is also a member of the LSUS Foundation and established an endowed scholarship in 2006.  She received the LSUS Circle of Excellence Award in 2010. 

The Distinguished Alumni is given annually to alumni leaders in the community, region or nation who are using their LSUS degrees in a significant manner and have made significant contributions to the university.
