The Louisiana Film Prize will announce the Top 20 finalists for this year’s film competition at the Robinson Film Center Wednesday night at 6 p.m.

The entries for this year have again surpassed previous years, with 105 films registered in total. Some 66 percent of those entries were created by filmmakers from around the country, but all were filmed right here in Shreveport-Bossier.

The Louisiana Film Prize has established itself as one of the most unique film competitions in the country. Not only does the Louisiana Film Prize award one of the world’s largest cash prizesfor a short film, the Festival audience takes part in choosing the $50,000 cash grand prize winner.

"The Louisiana Film Prize Festival Weekend is one of the most fun film events in the country," says Executive Director Gregory Kallenberg. "It has this amazing energy to it because the public plays such a large role in determining the $50,000 prize. As a result, you have filmmakers creating these amazing events to cajole their audience to vote for them. It has to be seen to be believed."

This year’s festival will take place on October 10-12 in downtown Shreveport.
