We might have lost Books-a-Million, but we gained something even bigger and better. The new 2nd & Charles store opened in Bossier City during the long Labor Day weekend, and residents are loving it!
My family had been watching the progress as the store prepared for its grand opening, and we were excited when it was finally ready for business. So excited, in fact, that we made two stops in there over the weekend.

The best part about 2nd & Charles is that it deals in mainly used goods. And it's got everything you can imagine -- books, CDs, video games, systems and accessories, records, toys, a whole children's section, and even musical instruments. And the prices are so affordable!

We found stuff in there we couldn't find anywhere else. For example, I've been searching for Skid Row CDs all over town (and at a low price), with no success. I found the two I was looking for at 2nd & Charles...and I got 'em cheap!  I also managed to finish off my daughter's "Junie B. Jones" book series without spending a fortune.

While most of the goods are of the used variety, there are new products, too. Most of the musical instruments looked brand-new -- including the ukeleles -- and there's a whole section of new books, too.

The store also buys your gently-used items. I talked to one of the employees while I was there Friday, and she said the initial inventory came from overstock at the company's other locations.

Hours are Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Take a look at this book wall at the very back of the store. This is awesome!:
