Senator John Kennedy talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the nomination of Judge Bret Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and how his position as a member of the Judiciary Committee will influence the confirmation process.

But the Senator also emphasizes that he will not rubber stamp the Trump nominee and takes the Senate's advise and consent responsibility very seriously.

"I like what I see with Judge Kavanaugh," says Kennedy, "I don't know him well yet, It's our job (on Judiciary) to examine his qualifications and I intend to do my job. I want the same thing for this Supreme Court position that I wanted for the one filled by Justice Gorsuch," Then the junior Senator adds wryly, "I want a cross between Socrates and Dirty Harry."

Kennedy then describes the importance of the process by describing the position of Justice on the Supreme Court: "This is one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, unelected positions - it's for life - in the most powerful and important country in human history."
