Shreveport's five leading mayoral candidates joined 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty for the first KEEL Mayoral Forum, questioning those in the field about their plans for the future of the city.

The Tuesday morning forum included Mayor Ollie Tyler, Caddo Commissioner Steven Jackson, Shreveport businessman Lee O. Savage, former Shreveport Police Officer Jim Taliaferro and West Point graduate and eight year Army veteran Adrian Perkins.

All touched on issues that are top-of-mind with most citizens: Economic development and crime, a segment highlighted by Tyler defending her administration's record on both and Perkins pointing out that Shreveport's economic future lies in the availability of digital technology.

Jackson underlined his experience in government as a two term Caddo Commissioner, while Savage presented himself as an outsider, representing the average citizen. Taliaferro highlighted his law enforcement background and emphasized the need to leave a better Shreveport "for our children and grandchildren."
